Blackout France provided its expertise in drapes and rigging to Parisian theatre Palais de Sport, creating a gothic ambience for its latest stage show, Dracula- L’amour plus fort que la mort (Love stronger than death).
The iconic geodesic dome venue was transformed with Blackout’s hundreds of square meters of black velour and wool serge draping. The Paris-based specialist also provided a magnetic kabuki system which was used to drop a double drop of drapes and a set of mattresses on stage.
Blackout worked closely with show producer Didier Gaume and technical manager Claude Muller of Bram Productions, to create the “dark” environment for the production which premiered at the beginning of October and runs until the beginning of January 2012.
Hugues Bonamy, Blackout’s project manager, said: “Dracula has been an exciting project for Blackout, and an opportunity to further cement Blackout’s reputation in supplying theatre production environments.”
Blackout has previously worked at the iconic Palais de Sport – which seats 4,500 – on a number of French Musical productions including Autant en emporte le Vent (Gone with the Wind), Gladiators and Mozart.
Blackout has also been commissioned for the Dracula European tour between 14th February – 14th July 2012, across Belgium, Switzerland and France.
