Blackout worked with Remedy Productions to create the set for this year's Diesel-U-Music Awards and aftershow party, held at London's Koko Club on 3 October and described as a 'riotous affair'. The event was recorded and broadcast on Channel 4 on 21 October. Blackout worked with production manager, Paul Anthony Voillet, and to a brief from designer Misty Buckley for a shabby style French brothel, supplying a soft torn white cotton drape to cover the stage as well as red velour drapes, plus support structures for oversized picture frames on the side of stage. Misty Buckley said: "Blackout's brief to recreate a French brothel really worked well, giving a great look and feel to the venue. As usual we were ever so pleased with the work that they did. They're the best supplier to the industry." This was an international event to celebrate worldwide innovation in unsigned and new music, with top awards to three acts in the categories of Urban/Hip Hop, Electronic and Rock/Indie. This year's finalists were, for Urban: Ghostown (France), The Clik Clik (UK) with Cool Kids (USA) taking the gold; for Electronic: Get Shakes (UK) taking gold, Toxic Avenger (France) and Global Wave (Japan); and for Rock: Hong Kong Dollar (Benelux), The Steers (UK) and The Features (USA) winning gold.
