London, UK, 31 March 2008 - For this year's British Record Industry Trust (BRIT) Awards 2008, held in association with MasterCard, Blackout working for MJK Productions, provided the backdrop to give an opulent feel to the award's, from main stage to backstage and party space. The star and artist studded ceremony was hosted by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne at Earls Court in London on 20 February.
One of the main set piece's was a collection of gold lamé swagged drapes for a 'glam'-themed stage designed by Stufish's Mark Fisher and Nicoline Refsing. Blackout's installation directors, Kevin Monks and Chris Brain worked with Stufish in helping to create the look of the main stage which also included a layered voile headdress for the giant skull which the centre piece to the stage. Blackout's influence was also seen in the presenter's area with the use of red velour swags, decorative trumpets (delicate folds of material) and purple velour to complement the Blackfriars Scenery Constructed set. Black drapes were suspended around the stage and auditorium, plus the seating, kitchen and catering areas.

For the equally prestigious after-show party, Blackout worked to Bruce French's '80s theme, providing red velour and black drapes, wall coverings and voile to break up the spaces and give a more intimate atmosphere.
Installation Director, Kevin Monks said afterwards: "We have been working for the BRIT Awards for a long time, and every year is slightly different and this one was just as exciting. Nicoline and Bruce's amazing designs showed off our fabulous materials to their very best. It was a real joy to work with them both"
