Bournemouth, UK, 1-3 July 2008 - Blackout once again played a major part in setting the scene for the Local Government Association annual conference in the Windsor Hall of Bournemouth International Centre, supplying and installing all the rigging and drapes for the stunning stage set, as well as lighting, sound and projection screens.
With the theme 'putting people first', this year's LGA annual conference brought together an audience of 2,000 leading players in councils, central government and business for a three-day event - the major focal point for debate with key national figures on the issues facing local communities. Speakers included Boris Johnson and David Cameron.
A mix of fifty-five one ton, half-ton and 250kg Lodestar and Prostar Hoists plus 400m of Prolyte and Superlite Truss were utilised with a 45m x 9m black wool serge backdrop creating the infrastructure and background for the set. Designed by..... the stage set required Blackout to provide dozens of rigging points within a very tight space, and with great precision, to enable mitrix panels and set pieces to blend seamlessly. A 15m x 7m LED Starcloth fronted by a white voile drape was used as a set backdrop for another conference room.
Eddie Campbell and Steve Helliker from CS Live have established a long-term working relationship with the Blackout team which helps to ensure a trouble-free installation. Their comment on Blackout's involvement... "What a fab production and a resounding success. I've received nothing but praise from the LGA and Blackout must share a bit part of this."
