Drape and rigging specialists, Blackout, collaborated with set designers Cath Pater and Adrian Smith to design and supply a staggering quantity of rigging and draping for the MTV European Music Awards and after show party in Barcelona.
Blackouts' Dominic Peissel production managed the Awards Show while Sandra Ewart of SAS Productions managed the party.
Blackout rigged the whole show, providing motors and trussing. There was a total of 180 motor points throughout, with some bridles being having legs of 50m.
Black draping was used for the backdrop on the main stage, together with fibre optic star cloths creating a magical galaxy like effect.
The black drapes either side of the central screen were fronted by a layer of white fabric which in turn had white voile with fullness suspended in front to provide the predominant look for the show
Even more black draping and white voile was used for the after show party, transforming a concrete, pillared space into 4 different sized areas, to create hospitality suites catering for varying groups of 60 - 200 guests.
