Working directly for the Issey Miyake SA, Blackout was asked to provide and install 140m of precision-controlled, motorisedtabtrack in eight separate parallel runs above the catwalk for their womens spring 2009 haute-couture collection at the Carousel de Louvre.
Each track carried a uniquelycoloured Japanese sourced see-through string curtain to follow individual models as they made their progress down the runway. Although the string-curtains had to travel at different speeds along differing lengths of track, they all had to arrive back at the start position simultaneously.
In the absence of a production company, our role also involved liaising with the other key suppliers to ensure a fast, smooth fit-up and de-rig schedule.
B|ackout was also involved in shows by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, Karl Lagerfeld and many others during fashion week.
