Starcloth

StarLED

Starcloth
StarLED is a relatively new Blackout product usually manufactured from an innovative IFR light weight molton trevira, a modern alternative to the traditional wool serge, and fitted with energy efficient, low maintenance, long life LED lamps. All cloths are backed with IFR Trevira and can be finished with ties at the top or whatever is most useful and Velcro to the sides if the cloths need to be joined and daisy chained.

The product StarLED, contains single surface mounted white or coloured RGB LED fitted to printed circuit boards. The circuit board is encapsulated in a moulded polycarbonate holder, which is attached to the back of the cloth. The holder is designed to give maximum viewing angle of the light source as well as providing the required protection.

A box containing a dimmer unit is mounted in the corner of each cloth, this will take power input at 24vdc and DMX data input via a 4pin XLR cable.

The 150 watt power supplies can operate at at either 110 or 230 volts, via an internal switch. One of these power supplies are able to to power 200 square metres of cloth. The unit can take DMX data via a standard 5pin xlr connector. Rotary switches allow the DMX control slots of the dimmers to be selected. Additional switches allow pre-programmed effects sequences to be played. To avoid the need for termination at the end of the cloths the dimmer unit has been designed to to self terminate the incoming data.

The RGB LED will allow a huge variety of colours in conjunction with a DMX Lighting control.

Fibre Optic

Starcloth

Blackout's fibre optic cloths are usually made from a DFR black wool super serge face fabric with an IFR Trevira protective backing. The galaxy star effect is created using optical polymer fibre strands attached throught the cloth with with specially designed grommets and terminating at at a highly polished common end. The cloths can be finished as required. Various light sources are available.

Pea Bulbs

Starcloth

This traditional starcloth is usually constructed on a DFR black wool super serge face fabric with an IFR Trevira protective backing The Pea bulb has a warm tungsten glow, which gives of an amber/white light and are usually in a 3 or 4 circuit configeration. Each bulb is solder mounted to a bi-core cable and fitted directly through the back of the cloth.

Power consumption is based on a 1 watt lamp at 28vac. The starcloths have a 28vac header cable which terminates in male/female cee-form connectors which enables cloths to be daisy chained together. Power is then supplied from 24vac transformers.

Control can be achieved via LX dimmers or a Pulsar chase unit.
